Who is Cindy Fortin?

FULL BIO:

  • I have been a resident of Peachland for more than 35 years

  • Raised my three children here – Ayla, April & Shawn

  • Worked as a freelance journalist for more than 20 years, with my work appearing in local, provincial and national publications; over 750 newspaper, magazines, and columns to my credit. My online column      “C-Speak” – political satire and social commentary -- was carried by the Kelowna Daily Courier. 

  • Prior to journalism, was a Licenced Practical Nurse, working primarily in Seniors’ Care

  • Taught Freelance Journalism (Okanagan College, Continuing Education)

  • am1150 "Talk Show Idol" contest, top 3 runner-up (I spoke on politics, of course. Federal politics, in this case.)

  • Author: “Foreseen Demise” novel, 2015

Hobbies:

      Writing, Painting, Fishing, Sailing, Geocaching, Hockey and CFL Fan

Local Government:

  • Mayor of Peachland from 2014 to present

  • Peachland Councillor from 2011 to 2014  

  • Vice-Chair of the Okanagan Basin Water Board

  • Chair of both the Mayor’s Task Force on Climate Change, and the Peachland Healthy Watersheds Committee
